Paths

Mages can go down different paths. Type 'paths' in game to learn more.

To adhere to a path, you must go to the right place to 'study' it. As usual, I'll point you toward [Rodpedia] for the full write up, this page is just quick-reference.

What I find funny is that the majority of these are just done in the academy, right by where you practice skills - so basically totally a non-issue. Then there's 3 you have to go to the High Tower of Sorcery to learn, but, ok that's thematic at least. But overall, seems like they had a cool idea here and then went ahhhhhh who cares make it easy and dumb. Would be more fun if they put these learning locations all over the map and actually made it a questy plot thing to do. But nope.

Balance

  • "Immob Mage"
    • Used to cast immobilize on mobs while your alts or friends whack away at them.
    • Only works on select mobs. Some mobs require Nephandi spelldowns to make it land.

Location: the Master of Neutrality in High Tower of Sorcery.

Countermagick

  • "CM Mage"
    • The inviola spell makes you immune ALL magic (including heal potions).
    • Used against magic-attacking mobs. Short lived spell though, only works on select mobs.

Destruction

  • "Paradox (Dox) Mage"
    • Used as a Magic hitter, paradox is a good attack and lands on tons of things.

Quill

  • "Quil Mage"
    • Creates spellbooks that can cast 3x spells (quantum spike) when recited.
    • 3x books are heavy though, and take time and effort to scribe and haul.

Defense

  • Spellbot
    • Used to buff your other characters

Elder Scroll

  • Not any special usage that I know of. Some neat features that are just conveniences.

Prowess

I know nothing about prowess mages.

  • "Arc Mage"
  • Alternative Usage:
    • Often used to help kill pf mobs if pf characters are struggling with something.
    • Controversial, often seen as a cheap or cheat tactic.
